Location: Iowa National Guard Armory, 5001 Old Hwy Rd.
What do I need to bring?
Skates
Roller derby is played on quad skates, not roller blades. Most skaters order their skates online after trying on teammates’ gear for size. Popular skate brands are Riedell, Antik, and Sure-Grip.
Pads
We require all skaters to wear certain safety gear whenever they are on skates. All of our skaters wear:
- Knee pads
- Elbow pads
- Wrist guards
- Mouthguard
- Helmet
The Dubuque Bomb Squad has a limited number of used pads to lend out. Please bring your own mouth guard and helmet!
What will I learn?
You will learn how to:
- Basic skating skills
- Basic gameplay
- How to fall safely
- How to move in a pack with other skaters
